Per Kristian Stöcker – Attorney & Of Counsel
As an attorney with many years of experience and Of Counsel at ByteLaw, I advise my clients on all legal issues related to digitalization—that is, whenever digital technology is involved in a matter and this requires legal advice or the assumption of responsibilities.
My practice focuses on data (protection), AI, and IT law, as well as IT-related collective labor law and European or national regulatory frameworks pertaining to IT, data, or infrastructure and facilities (GDPR, Data Act, AI Act, CRA, DORA, NIS2, KRITIS, etc.).
I advise clients from a wide range of industries—including software manufacturers, companies in the creative industries such as large advertising and marketing agencies, regulated companies in the financial sector, the healthcare sector, and manufacturing. I serve as an expert in the field of IT and AI for works councils, as well as assisting employers in establishing fair and practical co-determination arrangements in technical areas.
I also serve as an External Data Protection Officer (certified by TÜV Nord and the European Centre on Privacy and Cybersecurity (ECPC-B / Maastricht University)). Furthermore, I support clients in connection with audits and certification projects (ISO 9001, 27001 et seq., TISAX).
Since 2021, I have served in a volunteer capacity as a board member of the Cologne Bar Association.
For several years now, I have also been working as a lecturer, most recently teaching the “AI Law and Ethics” course at the Rheinische Hochschule Köln, and previously at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Heilbronn, where I taught data protection and data security.
In addition to my work as an attorney, I serve as an In-House Counsel responsible for corporate data protection for a Europe-wide corporate group operating in the transportation, logistics, and real estate sectors.
My advisory approach is pragmatic and aims not merely to identify and explain risks, but to create opportunities for operating in a legally compliant manner within increasingly digitized structures. In doing so, I always keep my clients’ economic efficiency and competitiveness in mind.
